Contemplative charism
Our contemplative vocation calls us to life of silent prayer centered on the mystery of the Eucharist.
We want to follow Saint John the Evangelist in order to take Mary into our home (Jn 19:27) and, with her, be united to Jesus offering His life to the Father.
Solitude and silence allow us to deepen our personal relationship with Christ and the Virgin Mary.
Community life
To respond to Jesus’ command to love one another as he loved us, we strive to live fraternal charity in joy, mutual trust and the gift of ourselves to our Sisters.
Our daily community life includes Eucharistic adoration, Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours, Bible studies, philosophy and theology classes, study groups, recreation and manual work.
Lynton convent
As an international community we have priories throughout the world, the convent in Lynton is our first house in the UK, our closest sisters being in Ireland and Holland. We are just beginning our foundation here and are seven sisters at present.
We moved to Lynton in August 2019 having spent the previous four years in the Diocese of Portsmouth. We are extremely grateful to Bishop Mark O’Toole and the Diocese of Plymouth for their warm welcome. It is a great gift to receive such a beautiful convent, which is steeped in the prayer of the Poor Clares who lived here for the past hundred years.
